Moleskine is a brand of note book manufactured by Moleskine srl, an Italian company. Although the name implies otherwise, the writing book is in fact not bound in moleskin, but in oilcloth-covered cardboard. Other distinct features also include an elastic band to hold the book closed and a sewn spine that allows it to lie flat when opened. This includes the entire category of Moleskine Notebooks, Moleskine Journals, Moleskine Planners, Moleskine Address Books, Moleskine Sketchbooks, Moleskine Date Books and more.

The modern Moleskine is fashioned after Bruce Chatwin's descriptions of the notebooks he used and is not a direct descendant of the original moleskine. Chatwin used similar note books constantly throughout his travels, and wrote about them glowingly. His original source of note books dried up in 1986, when his Paris stationer informed him that the last moleskine manufacturer, a small family-run firm of Tours, had discontinued production that year after the death of the owner.

Aside from Moleskine, there are now a number of companies that produce note books similar to Chatwin's description, including Lama Li Travel Journals, and Hand+Book Journals.

Moleskin is a French rock band which draws its name from one of Noir Désir's songs ("A l'arrière des taxis") and its music from the US rock of the seventies and eighties.

A bass, drums, two guitars and a harmonica revisit the kind while keeping in memory what was done best from Beatles to Metallica. Beatles for melody, Metallica for energy. Between these two great as distant influences in time as in the style, one finds environments of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd or U2. The voice, powerful and marked, classes the band in a rock and no pop register. One could even speak about strong rock.

The music, as for it, is listened to on the road, at the wheel of a convertible crossing as well urban landscapes ("Car Jacker", "Save my soul") that bucolic ("Virgin Mary", "Evergreen") or desert ("Dock - Exit road").

2005 was marked by Moleskin's firsts concerts : in less that 6 months, the band did 20 gigs, a tour of 5 concerts in Slovenia, big stages in Paris (Batofar, Gibus...) and some others outside Paris (Lille, Orleans...).
2006 Moleskin continues gigs and plays in Festivals from Paris to Brussels. In september, Arnaud leaves the band. Thibaut is the new drummer. All songs benefit from his unique style, giving a new breath to existing songs and bringing his creativity for new ones. After a couple of months only, working very hard, he is ready for Moleskin's first album.

Moleskin, originally referring to the short, silky fur of a mole, is heavy cotton fabric, woven and then sheared to create a short soft pile on one side. The word is also used for clothing made from this fabric. It is also used in adhesive pads stuck to the feet to prevent blisters.

Clothing made from moleskin is noted for its softness and durability. Some variants of the cloth are so densely woven as to be windproof. Most manufacture of this cloth takes place in British mills. Noted clothiers who use a great deal of moleskin in their garments are Barbour and Lambourne.

Moleskin is also the term for a skin-colored fabric which serves as a cache-sexe for female genitalia (the name derives its shape). Such were often used by moviemakers in Hollywood. The most famous incident involving a moleskin occurred when Janet Leigh lost hers during the shower scene of Psycho. Unfazed, she remarked that no one (meaning the staff present) was seeing anything they had not seen before.

Moleskin is also used to darn pointe shoes
